ow that you have a new puppy or kitten, El Camino Veterinary Hospital wants you to keep him or her happy and healthy. The best way to do this is to start at the beginning with an examination soon after he or she comes home with you. We will give your pet a complete hands-on physical and will recommend obedience classes in our area for you and your puppy.
Early intervention can reduce the chance of serious illness. We will give your new kitty a complete physical examination including a fecal screening for parasites, blood work and vaccinations appropriate to lifestyle.
Puppies:
- Distemper
- Parvovirus
- Rabies
- Bordetella (if your dog will be boarded or a frequent visitor to dog parks)
- Rattlesnake vaccine
Kittens:
- FRCP (Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, and Panleukopenia)
- Feline Leukemia
- Rabies
Kittens are always tested for feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) before any vaccines are administered.
We will begin a program of preventive treatment like Heartgard at 16 to 20 weeks. This and any other prescriptions are available any time at the hospital.
As your puppy or kitten grows and matures, the regular visits he has come to expect will continue. El Camino Veterinary Hospital’s veterinarians will work with you to tailor a program of Adult Wellness and Senior Wellness to help enhance a long and happy life.
